Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our free coding programs for students
Who can join Code4Change?
Our programs are designed for middle and high school students (grades 5-12). No prior coding experience is required!
Is the program really free?
Yes! All of our courses, sessions, and resources are 100% free for students. Code4Change is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Do students need to attend every session?
Our sessions are optional and not monitored, but we strongly recommend regular attendance. It can be difficult to keep up if students miss key concepts covered in live instruction.
How do students get help if they are stuck?
We host weekly sessions where instructors explain concepts and students can ask questions. Students can use our Discord channel to ask questions, and our team is available via email for additional support.
What kind of projects will students build?
Projects vary by course. In Python, students build games and interactive apps. In Data4Change, students analyze real-world datasets and create visualizations. In GenAI4Change, students explore AI tools through hands-on projects.
How do I sign up?
Head to our Courses page and choose the program that fits your interest. Registration is free and only takes a few minutes!
What tools or software do students need?
Students need a computer with internet access. We use free tools like Google Colab, Python, and Discord. All software is free and we provide setup instructions.
Can I volunteer with Code4Change?
Yes! We welcome volunteers as instructors, teaching assistants, content creators, and social media helpers. Visit our Get Involved page to learn more and apply.
